Nestled into the Santa Monica mountains above Brentwood, the looming structures of the Getty Museum intrigue commuters on the 405 Freeway with their amazing architecture and trains that shuttle visitors up the hillside.
Established in 1985, J. Paul Getty left his entire estate to his foundation for the arts. From this gift, the Getty Center and corresponding Getty Villa museums were created and expanded. The Getty's primary focus is sharing the love of art with the public, through careful conservation, restoration, research, and education. The amazing architecture, created by Richard Meier and garden, designed by Robert Irwin, holds a special place in many hearts. It's programs and exhibits bring people together through the joy of learning.
